Motivational Personality of the Week – Iyinoluwa Samuel Aboyeji

Iyinoluwa Samuel Aboyeji, commonly known as ‘E’ was born on 28 March 1991. A young entrepreneur, he co-founded Andela and is currently the managing director of Flutterwave, which won best fintech startup category at AppsAfrica Awards in November 2017.

Iyinoluwa obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) in 2007 from Loyola Jesuit College and graduated from Columbia International College, earning his first degree in International Development, Legal Studies and Economics. He is also an alumnus from the University of Waterloo, where he obtained his B.A in legal studies.

At age 19, Iyinoluwa started in partnership with a friend. is a social learning platform for sharing and organizing resources within learning communities. The company was acquired by the Canadian Innovation Center in 2013.

In 2013, Iyinoluwa started Fora along with Ian Carnevale, Nadayar, and Bric. Fora is a distance learning platform for African universities. Fora enables young professionals in Africa to discover short certificate courses offered online or at universities and professional organizations in the United States.

In 2014 Iyinoluwa co-founded Andela, and also in 2016 he co-founded Flutterwave, a payments Applications Programming Interphase (API) that makes it easier for banks and businesses to process payments across Africa.

Iyinoluwa is a recipient of several awards and honors including the John C Holland Award for Youth Leadership (awarded by JC Holland Foundation in 2010) and Nigeria’s top 20 under 20 (awarded by Thisday Newspapers in 2011). He was also named a World Economic Forum Global Shaper in 2012.

In 2017, Iyinoluwa was named among the “50 Most Influential Nigerians in 2017” by Business Day Nigeria, citing his work at Flutterwave. Forbes also named him among its 2018 30 Under 30 Enterprise Category for his work at building Flutterwave. The company had “raised $15.7 million in funding” and “processing $1.2 billion in transactions so far.”

Iyinoluwa’s interests include: technology, education, impact investing, emerging markets, finance, and entrepreneurship.
