MOTIVATIONAL PERSONALITY OF THE WEEK: UGBONOMHI INNOCENT OSIGBEMHE
Mr. Ugbonomhi Innocent Osigbemhe is popularly known as Donwhyte and hails from Okpekpe – Auchi in Edo State, where he was also born.
After his secondary school education, he got admission into several universities, including University of Benin (UNIBEN), Nigerian Defense Academy, Auchi Polytechnic, and Sea-Trade Maritime Academy, Delta State but was not able to start or complete any of his undergraduate program due to financial constraints and the death of his father, when he (Don White) attained the age of 19.
According to Mr. Osigbemhe, the death of his father left him with huge death arising from burial expenses and all of these including several failed attempts to obtain a University Degree influenced Innocent’s decision to venture out as an entrepreneur at a very early age.
He thereafter, relocated to Lagos and started doing menial jobs just to make ends meet and to put food on his table. Sharing that he needed finances to follow his plans, he got a Job at ‘Mr. Biggs’ as a cleaner in 2013.
While working at Mr. Biggs, he put himself through computer training and the skills acquired during this part-time computer training earned him an alleviation to the position of a Cashier at Mr. Biggs.
Still at Mr. Biggs, he was opportune to be trained as a baker and cook, and was exposed to several other operations of the franchise.
In 2015, He left Mr. Biggs with a plan to pursue a career in photography in view. He invested his savings from his time at Mr. Biggs into getting a camera and gradually started training in photography.
He acknowledges that everything he learnt in photography was self-taught, he invested his time so much in his personal development because there were no alternatives for him to learn photography due to financial constraints.
In 2016, Innocent founded Donwhyte which started first as a ‘wait and take photo outfit, while gate crashing parties and events to take pictures’ but has now grown into a budding photography outfit, covering outdoor and indoor photography, framing, enlargement, anything that has to do with photography, and videos with a current capacity and resources to cover or execute five events in a day.
He expresses that his motivation for excelling so much at photography was the fear of being financially incapacitated, acknowledging that this had denied him of a degree.
Even though he is doing so well now, he admits that his greatest challenge is finances to explore other business ideas he has planned. In his words, “I have so many ideas in my head, and I believe I have not scratched the surface, just yet”.
He envisages that in the next five years, Donwhyte would have international standard studios in different states in and outside of Nigeria.
He currently runs and operates five studios within Lagos and has over 60 workers adding value to the Donwhyte brand.

His final words for many looking to explore the entrepreneurial landscape is, “Believe in yourself and trust your craft, be a good giver and serve your GOD”.
